New York and Northeast Regional Manager, Policy Strategist, State and Local, Government Affairs and Public Policy

Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team works with policymakers, regulators, and third-party stakeholders to navigate the tests of public policy. We are advisors who analyze and react to political developments, working to advance Google's mission by shaping the policy landscape at the state and local levels.

• Monitor, analyze, and interpret state legislation and regulations primarily in New York and across other Northeast states, with a focus on emerging technology policy issues such as AI, data privacy, content moderation, and energy.
• Develop and execute comprehensive policy strategies to influence legislative and regulatory outcomes, including drafting legislative language, preparing expert testimony, and creating detailed policy briefs.
• Engage directly in legislative and regulatory with elected officials, committee staff, and executive agency personnel to advocate for Google's official policy positions.
• Serve as the internal expert, advising business and product teams on the implications of emerging state policies and ensuring products and operations can grow in the region.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key policy opinion formers, trade associations, and third-party allies to support shared regulatory goals.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience in technology policy, law, or regulatory affairs within government, public interest groups, or the technology industry.
• Experience in state-level technology policy issues, such as AI, privacy, and competition.
• Experience analyzing, drafting, and redlining state legislation.
